Craft Show Update

Our last show in May is in Tauranga on 25, 26 and 27 May. Our June schedule kicks off in New Plymouth on Queens Birthday Weekend and ends in Whangarei on June 29, 30 and July 1.

     Happy to report a good show at the CCS grounds in Royal Oak last Sunday. Thank you to all you loyal customers. Now we are packing our bags for Tauranga which will be quickly followed by Queen's Birthday weekend in New Plymouth. Looks like two busy weeks ahead. Hope to see you at one of these shows.

 What We Look Like...
   Here's a photo of our stand in Aisle 7 of Craft World. This treasure trove of a store is located in Westgate Shopping Centre in Massey. It's open seven days a week for your shopping pleasure. What a great place to browse or entertain visitors as it stocks unique range of New Zealand made crafts from every price point. Hope to see you there!

Cajun Cookin' Blend

Cajun Cookin’ Blend
     Bright, Fresh and Spicy. An excellent salt substitute. Sprinkle directly on fish, poultry or meat to suit your own hot taste. Use in crumb mixtures for Coating Anything.

    Cajun adds life to marinades or sauces. Include a couple teaspoons of our blend in your favourite pasta sauce for a surprising zing. Keep in a salt shaker for everyday use and easy coating applications.

     Cajun Spicy Potato Wedges are oven baked and very low in fat. Our Cajun Blend gives them just the right pep. For the coating try using the Panko breadcrumbs found in Asian markets. Dip the hot spicy wedges in a cool pool of Bittersweet Dilly Dilly Dill dip made with yoghurt or sour cream (low fat of course!).

     Make a Spicy Rub for meats or salmon. In order for a rub to really work it must contain salt. A natural property of salt is that it draws out liquids. When your rub contains salt and you leave it on a meat surface the salty rub will draw out the meats juices and then by osmosis will draw the flavour back into the meat. This also means that for a rub to work it must remain on the meat surface for some time. Since none of our blends contain salt so you can add our Paradise New Zealand Solar Harvested Sea Salt from Lake Grassmere in the Marlborough Sounds to the Cajun Blend to suit your taste.

     Cajun is the spice to use with your favourite Blackened Fish or Chicken recipe which must be done outside as it really smokes! Try our Bittersweet version which maintains great flavour without the carbon or smoke. Our recipe can be an “inside job”!

     Do you think salted peanuts in the super market look unappealing? Are they too oily, too dry or just under done and insipid looking? You can fix them! “Doctor’ them up with our “Easiest Spiced Peanuts” recipe. These make an excellent nibble or hostess gift as these peanuts are inexpensive, home made, unique, and very more-ish.
